Visual Timer

Get ready in time

Visual Timer makes it easier to keep track of time when performing activities and preparations. An excellent tool for getting ready in time.

Visual Timer for iOS, iPhone and iPad (Android coming soon) is the first app to get published by Aspie Apps.

How it works

Setting up is really simple:
Step 1 - Set the end time of the countdown timer.
Step 2 - Set green”, yellow”, and red” using the sliders.
Step 3 -  Click on the play button to start the timer.

When counting down Visual Timer will show a big status” light that is green, yellow or red. This indication is dominating the screen and tells, even from a distance, what status you’re in.
There’s also a clock with a colored arc that shows you how much of each color there’s left.
And similarly the bar at the top shows the same thing as the Arc but in a linear path.

It’s an application that unloads your brain from the task of trying to keep time and trying to understand time at the same time you’re getting ready or doing activities.
Multi-tasking, and understanding time are two of the most challenging things an Aspie-person can set out to do, and that’s why we’ve developed this simple, and effective tool that visually gives you just the amount of input you need without getting in the way.

Since this is an app for Aspie-persons, there will never be any ads or in-app purchases!

It is a full screen application with a minimum of disturbing elements, and soft non-distracting sounds.

What is Green, Yellow and Red then?

Using a real-life example from our own life might illustrate how our little family makes our mornings run more smoothly. As you know, getting dressed and ready can be difficult, especially when you’re easily pre-occupied with other things, or just have trouble understanding time.
So to come to grips with our mornings, and getting kids ready for school:
  • We set the timer in Visual Timer for when we have to be in the car in the morning. This is mostly about 8 o’ clock.
  • We set red” to about 5 minutes, which is the time it takes for us to get us dressed and ready for going outside, i.e: shoes, coats and bags. (Red will then start 07:55)
  • We set yellow” to about 10 minutes, which is the time it takes for us to get dressed and finish packing our bags. (Yellow will start at 07:45)
  • And we use our green” time to let the family know that we can keep going eating our breakfast and enjoying our morning. (Usually we give ourselves about 45 minutes of green” time)
The kids have a tremendous view of what state they’re in, without being stressed, and also keep learning and getting a feeling about how long certain tasks takes.
A big, and somewhat unexpected, bonus is that we (parents) don’t have to nag and push our kids in the mornings anymore - we’re actually being friendlier towards each other.
For us as a family this app has been a big success, and we’re very excited to be able to share it with you.
But of course - how you use it is entirely up to you!
A few examples might include to help during showers, homework, chores or just about anything that takes time. Just define what the colors will mean for you, and stick to it a few times. It really will become a visual guide that is non-intrusive yet helping.

Isn’t it a bit simple?

It’s very basic, it’s just that big indicator with green”, yellow” and red” - and the time ticks down revealing these colors.
But that’s the beauty. Easy to learn, easy to follow and up to you to fill with meaning. An Aspie tool for Aspie people.
